The college was established in 2003, and its history can be traced back to 1952. The college is comprised of five departments including department of Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Municipal Engineering, Resources and Environmental Science, and Marine Resources and Environment. We offer Master opportunities across the areas of Environmental Science and Engineering, Municipal Engineering, Agricultural Resources and Environment and Hydrobiology. There are nearly 1000 full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students in the college.

The college has high-quality faculty staffs. There are 94 faculty members, including 19 professors and 34 associate professors. In recent years, the college has undertaken many national projects, such as major national scientific and technological projects, national major basic research projects (973), National Natural Science Foundation, as well as a large number of scientific and technological projects at provincial level to service the development of local economy. Many academic papers have been published in high-level international academic journals. Many authorized patents were also obtained.

The college has nearly 20,000 square meters for laboratories, teaching facilities, and advanced research equipment. There are several laboratories and centers in the college such as Jiangsu Provincial Water Environmental Protection Technology and Equipment Engineering Laboratory, Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory of Environmental Materials and Environmental Engineering, Provincial Public Science and Technology Service Platform of Agricultural Environmental Safety Technology Service Center, Provincial Experimental Teaching Center of Environmental Science and Engineering, Provincial Practical Education Center of Water Pollution Control and Treatment, Institute of Environmental Science, Institute of Pollution Control Engineering, Institute of Ocean Science and Technology, and Institute of Municipal and Environmental Design.

The college adheres to student-oriented, constantly deepening teaching reform and vigorously improving quality-oriented education, leading to form the feature of talent training with solid foundation, wide knowledge and strong innovation ability. In recent years, the enrollment rate of undergraduate graduates for postgraduate study is more than 40%, and the graduate employment rate of the whole college has been stable at 100%. The quality of talent training is generally praised by employers.

We are firmly committed to develop the international cooperation and communication. The college has established extensive cooperation relations with many scientific research institutes at home and abroad. We have sent many staffs to the United States, Germany, Britain, Australia, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and other countries and regions for further study and/or cooperative research. Many scholars with global reputation have visit the college for academic presentation.

The college also commits to itself to develop social cooperation and services. We have established cooperative relations with dozens of enterprises and set up many enterprise postgraduate workstations. The college has provided a large number of technical support for local society and enterprises, leading to the development of local environmental protection and the bloom of the related business.
