Environmental science specializes in the cultivation of moral, intellectual, physical, and aesthetic development. It can actively adapt to the needs of socio-economic, scientific, technological, and educational development, has comprehensive literacy, and has sustainable development potential. Students mainly study basic theories and basic knowledge in environmental science, receive basic training in applied basic research, applied research and environmental management, have good scientific literacy and certain teaching, research, development and management capabilities, master environmental monitoring and environment Impact assessment methods and basic skills for environmental planning and management. After graduation, students can engage in environmental assessment, environmental planning, and cleaner production audits in industrial and mining enterprise environmental monitoring, environmental consulting companies, and environmental management agencies. The professional curriculum is based on the principles of thick foundation, wide field, emphasis on practice, and characteristics.

Environmental Science has 10 professional teachers and 1 teaching assistant, of whom 9 have senior professional titles. In recent years, the professional teachers have presided over 8 National Natural Science Funds, more than 20 provincial and municipal scientific research projects, more than 50 technical services, published more than 30 SCI citation papers, and more than 50 Chinese core journal papers.

The environmental science major has a complete set of experimental sites and facilities, advanced experimental instruments and equipment, a batch of stable internal and external internships and practice bases covering the professional direction, and a provincial key laboratory for environmental materials and environmental engineering. Specialized courses such as environmental monitoring, environmental impact assessment, environmental planning, environmental engineering, teaching practice, and graduation internship are provided to further cultivate students' practical operation ability and excellent school conditions.
