Processed from Jiangsu province and national conditions, the department of Environmental Engineering aims to train successful engineering talents who can go into planning, design, research, education and management in environmental engineering and related fields. The education program is distinctive and professional with the emphasis on the cultivation of engineering practice ability, innovation consciousness and social responsibility. The trained talents have the distinctive characteristics of "wide caliber", "thick foundation", "strong practice", and "double creation", They can independently undertake planning, design, research and development, education and management work in design units, scientific research institutions, schools, industrial and mining enterprises, and government departments.
Environmental Science and Engineering is a key discipline of Yangzhou University. In 2018, the first program for foreign students in environmental engineering was started. By 2018, more than 650 undergraduates had graduated from this major, which has provided many talents for environmental protection area in Jiangsu and even the whole nation. At present, more than 40 students are enrolled each year, and there are more than 160 undergraduates at campus. We have 19 full-time lectures in this major, including 2 professors and 8 associate professors. There are 16 lectures with doctoral degrees, with a rate of 84.2% and 18 lectures with master's degree, with a rate of 94.7%. 10 teachers held bachelor's degree and graduated from environmental engineering program, accounting for 52.6%. Meanwhile, 84.2% of our lectures had engineering background, and all the young lectures under 35 had master's degree.
The main research directions of environmental engineering include:
1. Environmental pollution control engineering and technology
2. Environmental analysis and environmental monitoring technology
3. Environmental assessment, planning and management
4, Agriculture and rural environmental protection
5. Solid waste treatment and resource utilization
