VI. Main training links and assessment requirements
1. Course study
Degree courses are conducted in the form of closed-book written examinations, compulsory courses are conducted in the form of closed-book or open-book examinations, and elective courses are conducted in the form of examinations or checks. All course assessment will be scored in the 100-point system, with 60 being qualified. Those with the same educational level must pass the examination.
If you fail in the examination of the degree course, you should retake it. If you pass the retake exam, you can get credits. If you fail to pass the retake exam, you will be eliminated.
If you fail in the examination of the elective course, but the credits obtained have met the requirements of the training program, you may not re-study the course after your application, the consent of the instructor and the approval of the college. The result of the course will not be included in the file (only 2 courses are allowed to apply). Otherwise, postgraduate students should retake or take equivalent elective courses.
2. Academic activities
Postgraduate students must participate in 20 academic activities in and out of the university, give at least 1 lecture, and attend at least 1 domestic or international academic conference. Those who meet the requirements of Yangzhou University's Opinions on Establishing an Academic Report Meeting System for Graduate Students (University No. [2004]14) will get 2 credits.
3. Experiment and Practice Section
This section includes social practice and teaching practice. Social practice is mainly to participate in social surveys, undertake scientific research, design, investigation, consultation, technology development and service activities inside and outside the school. Teaching practice is mainly aimed at undergraduates to carry out trial lectures, guide class discussions, guide experiments, and assist to guide graduation thesis or graduation design of undergraduates. In order to participate in teaching practice activities, postgraduate students must fill in the "Yangzhou University Graduate Teaching Practice Assessment Form", with special person responsible for the assessment. Only qualified students can graduate.
4. Comprehensive discipline assessment
The discipline assessment is conducted according to the secondary discipline organization. The postgraduates themselves report their thoughts, study, health and other conditions to the assessment team, focusing on the study of degree courses and the preparation of dissertation. The supervisor and the head teacher can make brief supplementary explanations. The assessment staff will ask questions about the report of postgraduates and mainly check the preparation of academic dissertation. The assessment team will make assessment records. There are three levels of assessment: excellent, qualified and suspended. The proportion of excellent assessment results shall not be greater than 40% of the actual number of participants, and the proportion of suspended assessment results shall not be less than 5% of the actual number of participants. There are two comprehensive assessment opportunities in total. Those who get temporarily suspended result in the first assessment are allowed to choose another assessment (the interval between the two assessments shall not be less than 6 months), and those who fail the two assessments are eliminated.
5. Mid-term assessment
Mid-term assessment is an important link in the training and management of postgraduates and an effective measure to improve the quality of training. The mid-term assessment is generally carried out in the third semester. The department employs teachers including supervisors to form an assessment team to assess the political and ideological performance and professional learning of postgraduates, and gives the results by comprehensive score. The results of the mid-term assessment of postgraduates are divided into four levels, including A (excellent), B (qualified, continuing to study for degree), C (warning, put forward correction suggestions), D (unqualified, will be eliminated). The proportion of excellent students should be controlled within 35% of the total number of all kinds of graduate students participating in the mid-term assessment.
